Characters dropping f-bombs is one thing but using in within the narrative is just tacky and immature. I'm not a prude but I don't enjoy a lot of cussing in novels I read. There's weak attempts of trying to get more information about them however they all seem the same and it's not worth really recalling all these related memories they keep falling back on.

The characters are pathetic and under-developed. By page 260 I was just skimming through because I was getting so frustrated with how wordy and descriptive it was getting after having heard about the man wearing a woman skin suit with a penis coming out of the tanned vagina and literal mind-fucking over and over. ' The most vulgar disgusting book I've ever read. The plot is simple horror film fare about teenagers being trapped in a haunted house, but it's spiced a bit with some commentary about race relations and urban decay. There were some lapses in logic and continuity that seemed rushed or forced for example, on page 18 he describes the front door knob as being cut crystal, but on page 63 it's brass. ' This was a quick and entertaining read, although I got the impression that Keene didn't expend as much time or thought on it as he has on his previous novels. This is my first Brian Keene book, and I was not disappointed. ' I knew this was an homage to Ed Lee, and it does deliver! Especially for a mass market. Far from memorable (to me at least), but worth the time spent.' Overall, I found the book to be an interesting, quick read that did what it meant to do. The characters die off at a pace that does not allow for much development, but I'll excuse that, since the book is relatively short and mainly focused on plot. As a person who can not stand to watch or listen to things like this, texts written in such a style help me to explore the morbidly curious part of my mind. My favorite thing about this book is that is never hesitates to be as disgusting and brutal as possible. I enjoy Keene's writing style, though it seems to me that several phrases and words (like 'gristle')are used over and over. 'I have really enjoyed several of Keene's books, Including 'The Rising' and 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'.
